My first blog of 2016, the year when I go full out to build my baking business! What do I write about??... something that may be of interest to you... ummm...
Wedding cake news...
Most of my new followers on Facebook I have met through various wedding exhibitions this year. Thank you very much for your support and kind comments about my cakes.
Here I am on the right...
I had a great time talking about your special days and the ideas you had for your cakes. The overriding message I got from you was that you want to have the ability to have something different, unique... a one-off!
This is one of the reasons why so many of you stopped by my stand I think. My cakes are quirky and are always made around the story of my clients.
From the couples I have met so far, I have wedding cakes planned with themes including Iron man, tropical fish, peaceful meadows with slides, fishing themes and Hollywood inspired artwork.
So how do we create your unique cake?
We create your cake from lots of conversation... you bring all of your ideas with you. Images that you like, thinks that you share, experiences that you have had, jokes that only you two get and those things that are most important to you. From this conversation I can tell you what is possible in sugar and we will build ideas, themes, and your story in cake! Most couples are amazed at what you can make in sugar and cake! I sketch the ideas out on paper, until you are happy with the design. We do all of this in my conservatory whilst eating lots of cake and drinking lots of tea.
If you would like to book a consultation to discuss your wedding cake please email me
So what else has been happening?

Charity event of the month
When I started my business I decided that I wanted to be able to continue working in the community and also support charities where I could. So this month I will be supporting Wood Green Animal Shelter. I have personally adopted animals from them and I think they do some amazing work. So this month I will be making a sculptured pig cake for them to auction/raffle. If you are interested in attending their Field Day event which the cake is for then take a look here
I have been invited to host a 5 week course at The Chiltern School in Hougton Regis. As a fully qualified teacher I am able to run short courses and workshops for any age group. I am very much looking forward to getting all creative with the young people at the school to create some summer flower sugar work! Pictures to follow...
If you would like me to deliver any creative cake inspired training days then please feel free to get in touch and email me here.
The cake of the month following the wedding of a very special friend of mine... Here is what the bride said about her cake... "A total suprise was our weding cake made by the amazing Karrin Simpson. She captured our love story and our family which made it even more special. Our wedding song Waiting for a Star to Fall was captured perfectly. So many fabulous flavours and tiers to choose from our guests were spoilt for choice. Karrin Simpson we are truly grateful xxx "
